Look Cool for Violin and Piano. I was born in Chiangmai. Life was very simple and we listened to Thai/Western pop music on battery- run transistor radios. Nowadays, we have grown so much with technology, yet Thai people still want to preserve their valuable heritage. It is very interesting to see the two worlds exist in one place. Look Cool is a pun on the Thai words “luk ku” (spoken with falling tones)which means “pair” or “duet”. The picture or mood of the piece is about rowing a boat on the Ping rive in the calm evening. The sun is already hiding behind the mountain (Doi Suthep) at Chiangmai’s western edge. The piece is in four sections following the course of the river through the city, villages, and through nature into the next province.
