This week Chamber music composition, Mozart's Serenade no. 10 for Winds

The Serenade No. 10 for winds in Bb major, K.361/370a, is a serenade by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart scored for thirteen instruments: twelve winds and string bass. The piece was probably composed in 1781 or 1782 and is often known by the subtitle "Gran Partita". The work appeared on the movie "Amadeus" It is one of my favorite scenes from the movie. It is a very simple yet powerful. The charactor, Saieri described the piece note by note phrase by phrase in such a way that capture my attention through out the scene.  You may watch it here.  The piece has one of the most beautiful melodic line.  Many knew this piece through the film about Mozart (the Amadeus).  Chaipruck Mekara transcribed the movement for Clarinet Choir (Eb Clarinet, 7 Bb Clarinets with 2 Bass Clarinets). The arrangement is dedicated to the Clarinet Camerata of Mexico.

Mekara also made arrangement for different versions, such as Clarinet choir for 8 or 9 or 10 players.
Mekara also arranged the piece for Woodwind Quartet, Clarinet Quartet, 2 Oboes, Clarinet and Bassoon, And the version for 2 Oboes and 2 Bassoons
